Thank you so much to the Honourable Michael Tibollo, Minister of Mental Health and Addictions, for meeting with me this morning!
We must work together with the Provincial and Federal Governments as well as the surrounding communities to deal with mental health, addictions and homelessness. We need both short and long term strategies for prevention, continuing care, treatment and more available housing.
Thunder Bay cannot fix these problems alone.
Minister Tibollo has added more beds to the treatment centers in the smaller communities so people can be treated in their own communities, not having to endure the added stress of travelling to Thunder Bay to access services. As your Mayor, I am confident that we will get more support and resources from the government and have better collaboration with all of the surrounding communities.
